Air 2 Signature fail. Shorted cap in Touch "help"

If you work on iPads regularly you know what I am talking about. I am sure you have seen this problem. I see 3-4 of these a month.

iPad Air2's with a shorted cap in the Touch IC section. It's a pretty easy fix. Usually I just hot tweezer off the of*****ng cap and replace it and move on. The unit works fine. But now I have ran into a side problem. "NO TOUCH". This failure is upstream of the touch IC's and should not affect them.

I have two of these now with no touch or intermittent touch after replacing the of*****ng cap! After the cap repair the unit will power on like usual but I am having additional touch problems.

Unit (ONE)
It simply had no touch after the repair. It had a very badly damaged diode after the inductor on the PP Main rail in that section. The diode I am talking about is the one that is connected to the three caps that have that fail. I have changed the Touch IC's on the unit, the diode "which was slightly opened" along with U4003 and I still have no touch.

Unit (TWO)
Is a return unit with intermittent touch. When I got it back touch worked and I returned it to the shop and tested it again with the client and touch failed! I took it back to the bench and reflowed the touch IC's and that area and it still has the problem.

Has anyone else seen this? I have been unable to diode test detect any differences between these two logic boards and my "reference" board.

Any input from someone who has been down this road would be helpful.
