I am working on a Air 2 that has got me stuck.
It failed tristar so I went in for the usual Tristar repair. Replaced the tristar chip twice now with the same result.
The unit will charge the battery but only up to the point of the machine turning on. Once it boots up the charging cycle stops and the unit shows 1% and charging current draw is 0.0A. If you power cycle the unit off it will start charging again for a few seconds and it auto boots like you just plugged in the cable.
Tristar tester shows dock pass but fails on PP5V0 USB.
I looked at the schematics however I am not totally familiar with all the data lines and how they work.
I am considering changing the dock connector but am wondering if anyone has seen this before? Changing the dock cable is a pain compared to the tristar chip.
